I had to upgrade client software for a customer, and this included some new system variables path on client computers. In the past this was done with setX, and we want start using group policy preferences.
This seemed to work fine. But after some more testing I stumbled over some problems. System variables path was set each time the policy was applied.
Example: I want to add System Path Variable “C:MsitPros and C:MSitProsdll”, I create following policy
I ran gpupdate on test computer and everything looked perfect.
I runned gpupdate once more. And what happened then was that policy was applied once more.
(Value: C:WINDOWSsystem32;C:WINDOWS;C:WINDOWSSystem32Wbem;C:Program FilesWindows Imaging;C:MsitPros;C:MSitprosdll;C:MsitPros;C:MSitprosdll)
What must be done is configure each path environment in own entry.
